Millers Larder are artisan producers of handmade preserves, chutneys and fine foods. We SOURCE our ingredients and suppliers locally from the Avon and Clyde Valleys whenever possible.


We buy and support Scottish and British farmers and we are extremely
proud of our Dumfries and Galloway's farming family heritage.


Our Perfyit Piccalili has just been announced
the Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards 2016!

We CREATE modern tasting and bespoke chutneys, an amazingly crunchy tangy piccalilli and jellies. We COOK innovative recipes with quality ingredients, cider vinegar and FairTrade cane sugars, using traditional methods passed down through our family. Our mothers and grannies were such good cooks. My mum Stella still is.


As professional cooks, both of us are passionate about cooking and using seasonal ingredients.


Our products TASTE fresh and use natural ingredients with no additives, using heritage apples, tomatoes and ale from Strathaven's Craigmill Brewery as well as gathering and foraging for seasonal fruits. All are gluten free except for the Avondale Apple Amber which is made with Avondale Amber Ale.


They are delicious to ACCOMPANY lots of different foods and can also be used as an essential ingredient in cooking.

Millers Larder is based in the historic village of Stonehouse in the  Avon Valley. Nearby is the Clyde Valley famed throughout the world for its fruit, vegetables and of course – growing tomatoes.


We make our products using only the best ingredients which where possible are locally sourced, collected and purchased.  We  have taken traditional recipes as well as  creating new ones and have given them a modern day twist.

We Source, Create, Cook, Taste and provide you with chutneys, jellies and a very special piccalilli to Accompany a whole range of foods for you to share and enjoy!


Our customers are key to us and we hope to give each and every one of our customers loyalty and their own special focus  while understanding their individual needs.  We have a passion to share, showcase and accompany our unique fresh modern tasting chutneys, jellies and piccalilli with your food for you to enjoy.

We prepare and cook our products  in small batches to maintain the taste of the ingredients and quality of the product. By purchasing our jars and labels from local companies we have been both encouraged and supported by them where like us with our customers and products – they have gone that extra mile for us


Production takes place in our newly refitted kitchen on the Rangemaster stove. The range of jellies, chutneys and sauces are all  handmade in small batches using traditional open pans.


We still use the much loved Glenzier school kitchen pot which I was given and my mother Stella's Jeelie pans.


There are no artificial flavourings, colourings or preservatives in any of our products and we always use Fair Trade ingredients wherever possible. All our products are free from nuts and gluten (with the exception of the Avondale Apple Amber) and are suitable for vegetarians.

From BBQ Sauce originating in Charlston West Virginia USA in the 1930s’ made for friends and family to now - our Scottish Perfyit Piccalilli that we created in March 2015, which has been served the 2015 The Open Golf in
St Andrews and 2016 at Troon, The Davis Cup in Glasgow, Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, supplying to the Macdonald Hotel Group and now proudly announced as a WINNER in the Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards 2016 - what a journey!

Our premium products range is available in ‘1kgTub Stars’ for Food Service, hospitality events and family entertaining occasions as well as the ‘Jar Stars’ in 300g and 65g sized Mini Jars.


Just ask which products and sizes you require. All are made using traditional open pan methods and have a long shelf life – at least a year from being made – so don’t worry about them not keeping once opened!



Big Braw Onion Marmalade

(1kgTub, 260g and 60g Jars)

Onion marmalade with a difference! Spicy and mellow with a ‘Slug of Sloe Gin! Onions are slowly caramelised with red peppers to be cooked out with Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, Cider vinegar and soft brown sugar. Enriches gravies
and sauces. Delicious with sausages to make an onion gravy.

Spiced Tomato Chutney

(1kgTub, 260g and 60g Jars)

A dark rich and spicy chutney with more than a hint of chilli, spices and stem ginger. Clyde Valley tomatoes are a key ingredient. Good with all cheeses, cold meats and charcuterie. Adds that extra ‘something’ eaten with macaroni cheese and added as an ingredient to sausage rolls.

Perfyit Piccalilli

(1kgTub, 260g and 60g Jars)

Piccalilli brought right up to date! Packed full of tangy, crunchy vegetables with a good set to ‘sit’ well, is gluten free and has a mellow zingy flavour. Perfyit (old Scots word!) with cold meats, charcuterie, cheeses and sandwiches.

Granny Geddes’s BBQ Sauce

(1kg Tub and 260g Jar)

Our family recipe from the1930’s. Rich and tangy. Use as a marinade with pork or chicken and is delicious with both hot and cold meats, especially baked gammon at Christmas.

Avondale Apple Amber Chutney

(1kgTub, 260g and 60g Jars)

A lovely fruity mellow chutney made with a 500ml bottle ( ABV 4%) of premium Avondale Amber Ale from Strathaven’s Craigmill Brewery in each batch. Made with British Braeburns’ and Clyde Valley Apples – when in season.

Sloe Gin
‘Jelly for Grown Ups’

(300g and 65g Jars *Seasonal)

Has a slightly sharp but intense flavour with a ‘Slug’ of Sloe Gin in every batch. Lovely on toast, scones and with all cheeses and charcuterie. A spoonful or two added to gravies, sauces and casseroles makes all the difference.

Rowan and Crab Apple Jelly

(1kg tub, 300g and 65g Jars, *Seasonal)

Red berries and crab apples make a lovely tart combination, adding an extra dimension when cooking meat and traditionally served with game. Good with blue and goats cheeses.
